What Is a Brat Generator?
A brat generator is a text-to-image tool inspired by the minimal artwork associated with Charli XCX’s BRAT album. The familiar combination is a bright green background, simple black lettering, and a slightly blurred finish. Replace the text with your own words to make a personal cover, meme, or group chat image.
This independent brat cover maker creates images, not downloadable font files. It uses Arial with browser font fallbacks rather than claiming to supply an official album font. You can keep the green preset or choose a completely different palette.
How to Use the Brat Generator in 4 Steps
- Enter your text. Replace “brat” with a phrase, name, or caption. Press Enter for a deliberate line break. The field accepts up to 280 characters; short phrases usually leave more room for larger lettering.
- Choose your colors. Select Original, White, or Black for a starting point. Open the background and text color pickers to create your own combination. The preview updates as you change the controls.
- Adjust the finish. Move the text size and signature blur sliders. If a longer caption cannot fit at your selected size, automatic fitting reduces the lettering. Check the preview rather than assuming every caption needs the same settings.
- Save your cover. Choose a PNG resolution and press Download PNG. The exported image contains your artwork without the editor controls or a watermark.
Want a clean start? Reset to original restores the text, colors, size, blur, and resolution together. Download anything you want to keep before resetting or closing the page, because your edits are not saved between visits.
Choose Your Background, Text Size, and Blur
This tool’s default green is #8ace00. Treat that as a reproducible starting setting, not
a claim about a universal official color. White with black lettering gives a quieter result; a dark
background with light lettering changes the mood while keeping the text readable.
Intentional blur is different from a low-quality image. The blur slider softens the letters as a design effect. Raising export resolution does not remove that effect: reduce the blur setting if you want sharper text. Try zero blur, then the default 1.5 setting, and compare before downloading.
A longer caption needs smaller type or more lines. Compare “offline era” with “currently enjoying my offline era.” For stronger readability, shorten the phrase, insert a line break, or increase contrast between the letters and background. Review the result at phone size, not only in a large preview.

Choose 512 × 512 for a smaller square image, 1080 × 1080 as a practical starting point for sharing, or 2048 × 2048 when you want a larger source file. These are export choices, not guarantees that every social platform will preserve the image unchanged. Check the destination’s requirements before posting.
Use Download PNG instead of taking a screenshot to get the selected dimensions without browser controls. On a phone, look in your browser’s downloads or Files app; the image may not appear automatically in your photo library.
If downloading fails inside a messaging app’s browser, open the page in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari and try again. Keep the page open until the download has started. Changing resolution does not change the square layout.

Start with a phrase that sounds like you: “reply tomorrow,” “weekend pending,” “offline era,” or “group chat lore.” A playlist cover might use a mood; a group chat image might use an inside joke. Keep personal information out of artwork you plan to share publicly.
Try one version on a single line and another with a deliberate break. Neither is automatically better: choose the version that reads clearly at a glance. Original captions make the result more personal than copied lyrics. If you change the colors for an event or playlist, keep enough contrast for the words to stand out.
